The Twelve Colonies of KobolThis is a featured page

Official name: The United Colonies of Kobol

Flag of the 12 Colonies of KobolThe Twelve Colonies of Kobol were founded over 2000 years ago in the Cyrannus Star System. The 12 worlds are divided between the 4 stars of Cyrannus which is a double binary system. The distance and barycenters between the stars are stable which makes numerous planets habitable.

The stars are named after Helios, the god of the sun. Helios Alpha, Helios Beta, Helios Gamma, Helios Delta.

Helios Alpha SystemIcarus - nearest the star. Molten metal surface and is impractical for mining or exploration.
Picon - Colony. Large portion of the surface is covered in water.
Caprica - Colony. Twin planet of Gemenon which share a mutual orbit around a barycenter.
Gemenon - Colony. Twin planet of Caprica. Drier than her twin and mountainous.
Tauron - Colony. Minos is a large ringed moon with very thin atmosphere unsuitable for long term survival.
Zeus - Large gas giant. Many moons, the largest being Nike and Hebe.
Persephone - Just large enough to be classified a planet. Ice covered.

      Helios Beta System
Kronos - nearest the star. Rich with ore and mined by Virgon and Leonis since the founding of Colonies.
      Leonis - Colony.
Pallas - Failed Colony. Too barren to support life, attempts to terraform failed. Used as military proving ground.
Virgon - Colony. Hibernia is a large moon which orbits Virgon. Marginally habitable and limited settlement.
      Hera - Gas Giant.

Helios Gamma SystemThanatos - nearest the star. Can't support life.
Libran - Colony. Very warm. Has two small moons.
Scorpia - Colony. Spaceport city is the largest orbiting Spacestation in the colonies. Scorpia Shipyard the second largest.
      Sagittaron- Colony.
Ophion - Ringed gas giant. A captued planet which doesn't orbit on the same plain as the other planets.

Helios Delta SystemPhoebe - nearest the star. Very hot.
      Canceron - Colony.
Aerilon - Colony. Shared Lagrange orbit (L4) with Ragnar.
Ragnar - Ringed gas giant. Many moons, one of them called Troy which is a fail mining colony of Aerilon.
Aquaria- Colony. Shared Lagrange orbit (L5) with Ragnar.
      Styx - Small planet. Uninhabitable.

      Hestia
is a monster gas giant which orbits the barycenter shared by Helios Gamma and Helios Delta. Smaller dwarf planetoids are not listed and could exist within the systems.

Many of the descriptions of each Colony either came from canon knowledge or story play.
