Personality
Dani is a very warm and kind hearted person who tries to take a positive outlook on things whenever possible. Despite joining the military, in her heart she still considers herself a servant of the goddess Aphrodite and looks upon her military service as serving Her in a different capacity for a time.

She's somewhat naive due to the sheltered environment she grew up in and is still surprised at times by aspects of the wider culture that others take for granted and especially the cruelty that humans can inflict on other humans.

Dani has a passionate love of flying, there are very few activities that she loves more than shooting out of a launch tube in her viper and flying CAP or a training run. She takes intense pride that she is one of the more talented pilots in the Air Group, but is always ready to help others learn how to improve their own skills.

While a loyal officer she has trouble sometimes obeying all the many little regulations that are part of military life. Like most Virgonese she finds them overly restrictive and silly, and has been known to disregard them when she thinks it the right thing to do. A prime example of this is her relationship with her fiancee, as officer-enlisted relationships outside of working ones were forbidden at the time when they became friends.

Biography

Dani was born to a single mother in Syene, a small town on the opposite side of Virgon from the capital Devotion. Her father died in a car crash before she was born, and her mother Alexia died in an outbreak of Magreb Fever just before Dani's second birthday. Her mother's landlord left the toddler on the doorstep of the local temple with a note indicating the girl be dedicated to the service of the Goddess, since she had been spared the same fate as her mother.

A few weeks later she was transferred to the care of one of the many temples in the Colony's capital and largest city, Devotion, to be brought up as a priestess. The girl grew up living among the priestesses and learned their ways, with the expectation being she would become a full member of the Sisterhood upon adulthood. Early on she was identified as being a promising candidate with potential to rise through the ranks, and singled out for additional training with other potentials.

Of course none of this was told to Dani or the other girls in her temple dormitory. Their lives revolved around study and worship, cloistered inside the walls of the massive central temple complex and had little exposure to the outside world before their early teens. She took part in numerous public rituals dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite and it was obvious to everyone but her that she was being groomed to go very high in the Sisterhood indeed.

Dani never envisioned another life other than as a member of the Sisterhood and had become a junior priestess by the age of sixteen. She continued her studies in Devotion Bay College with every intention of continuing to serve the Sisterhood at higher levels until the second semester of her sophomore year when a friend dragged her to the Devotion Air Show and she saw the Golden Arrows perform. As she watched the vipers of the Fleet's flight demonstration team dance and twirl in the sky Dani knew that her life had fundamentally changed.

It took great deal of work on her part to convince her superiors that being a pilot was her calling and that she should be released to pursue it. Honorably leaving direct service with the Sisterhood was important to her and she wanted their blessing before starting this new phase in her life. She wasn't sure that the permission would come, but at the last minute she received a dispensation releasing her from direct service with the Sisterhood to join the Fleet's Officer Training Program.

After graduating from University she reported to Officer Candidate School on Picon to begin her service in the Colonial Fleet. After successfully completing OCS she was commissioned as an officer in the fleet and proceeded on to the Fleet Aviation School to begin basic flight training. It was there she met Caitlin Kerrigan and the two women quickly developed a close friendship that lasts to this day.

Upon completion of all flight training Dani and Caitlin were assigned to their first operational squadron, the Black Hydras aboard battlestar Vulcan two months prior to the start of the Second Cylon War. Dani fought multiple engagements alongside her squadron against the Cylons once the war began up until the final battle before the Fleet left the Colonies five months later. At the end of that battle, the Battle of Fulda Narrows, her shot up Viper crashed on landing on battlestar Avalon and left her badly injured.

While recuperating from her injuries Dani met Rhys Gaither, and the two developed a close friendship by the time she returned to flight status several months later. A friendship with the potential to turn into something more, a feeling acknowledged by them both but not acted upon right away due to the regulations prohibiting such relationships.

Eventually they quit fighting their attraction to one another and began a relationship, keeping it quiet and discreet due to the Officer-Enlisted divide. Several months into the relationship Dani discovered she was pregnant and has been removed from flight status for the duration of her pregnancy. She is currently on temporary duty in the Strike Group's Operations department until after the twins are born and she is sufficiently recovered to return to flight duty.
