Family History:
His biological parents were killed when he was 3. The village they lived in was destroyed during the Cylon uprising at the start of the First Cylon war . As a war orphan he was evacuated to the Colony of Picon, and was raised in a refugee camp outside one of Picon’s largest military installations. His early years spent in a refugee camp and near the infantry training base shaped his views and beliefs.

After the armistice, he lived with one foster family after another till he was of legal age, and then enlisted into the Colonial Marine Corps. Two years into his enlistment, he was accepted to Picon Fleet Academy. He graduated in the middle of his class, and was commissioned an officer. Early in his career he lead and commanded Marine infantry. Later he trained in special warfare tactics. Served as special warfare officer on the Galactica, and Triton.

Military Background:
Enlisted into the Marine Corp when he was 18, highest attained enlisted rank was private first class.
Accepted into Picon Fleet Academy, Studied Engineering.
Commissioned an officer andgraduated at age 25.
He had an exceptional career with high markings from his commanders.
Tours of duty included one tour on the Battlestar Galactica and another tour on Battlestar Tritonas the special warfare officer.
Picon Training Command, he was executive officer of the Training Battalion at Fort Rockport.

Noteworthy highlights:
Colonel Pierce was awarded honors after he lead hismarine force against the Free Aeries, the separatists uprising at Drayton Mines Compound on Aerilon. Officially 15 separatists gun men were killed. According to other unconfirmed sources, unofficially eight of those dead were non-combatants, and some put the number of dead Aerilans as high as seventy. Shortly afterward he was nominated and promoted to flag rank. Some conspiracy theorist claimed he was promoted to Rear Admiral to guarantee his silence about the deaths of the non-combatants, but little know that he already been tapped for Admialbefore then.

Position at the start of the War.
Rear Admiral, Commanding Special Warfare Group Tauron, was aboard the Battlestar Mercury at the time of the attack. He had been aboard to observe the war games inside the nebula. As the second senior officer known to survive the initial attack on the Colonies, he became the Fleet Admiral’s Deputy Commander, and transferred his flag to the Battlestar Avalon. Promoted to Vice Admiral.

In the third week of the war, he assume command of the fleet after Admiral Pullo’s death. He immediately changed the mission of the fleet from combat operations to harass the enemy to one of preservation and escape. Before ordering the fleet to leave the Colonies for good, he ordered one last evacuation and re-supply operation to Aerilon. Known for its agriculture, the colony held large reserves of food stock. Some believe he picked the Colony to make up for the late President Adar’s orders to storm the separatist compound.
